THE MARATHON KIT LIST

Race Ready with Salomon

Because it’s such an iconic distance, a marathon is a goal for many runners and an endurance test that requires serious preparation. The sweet spot for most runners somewhere between a time of two hours and change for elite runners and eight hours for walkers. However at most races, times of less than four hours for men and four-and-a-half hours for women are a good reference for a marathon. Whatever your goals, good preparation is essential for ensuring an enjoyable experience and also to avoid injury. If there isn’t a kit list for the race or if you’re doing a training run, determine what you might take with you to keep you safe. For many trail runs and races, it is important that you be self-sufficient!

GRAVEL RUNNING

Unlike trail or road running, gravel running is soft, natural, inviting, safe, and even restorative. Also, running can often evoke a competitive spirit, but on gravel, this becomes less of a motivator. The mindset shifts from competition to discovery, exploration, adventure, and fun!
- David Jou, Salomon Ambassador

Trail shoes are recognizable by their deep, aggressive multi-directional lugs that provide additional traction on technical terrain like mud, rocks and loose surfaces. They provide essential traction and safety on ascents and descents.

What Is Gravel Running?
Road Running conjures images of navigating the cityscape-pounding the pavement, traversing busy streets, and weaving through sidewalks in the "concrete jungle," one stride at a time. Trail running, on the other hand, takes you off the beaten path, through rugged terrain, rocky trails, dense forests, and steep mountain ridges. But what about the runs that blend both worlds? The ones where you co...
