WHAT PACKAGING WILL MY ORDER BE SHIPPED IN?
WE USE HERO PACAGING TO SHIP OUR PRODUCTS

Salomon uses compostable, zero-waste packaging products to ship our parcels across Australia and New Zealand. They are made by Hero Packaging.

Hero Packaging is produced by Anaita and Vik, a husband wife duo from Australia who are committed to removing plastic from packaging and shipping in Australia and the world.

You can learn more about them at: https://heropackaging.com.au/pages/about-hero-packaging
WHAT IS HERO PACKAGING AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Hero Packaging bags are made from home-compostable materials, mainly corn starch and PBAT (a compostable ingredient which bonds the renewable ingredients together).

Hero Packaging states that to compost them at home, it’s best to remove any labels, cut them up and place in your compost bin as “brown” materials. This only takes about 30 seconds!

These will completely break down within 90-120 days in a home-compostable environment - sometimes even sooner.

These can also be sent to composting facilities to be properly broken down and composted. If you are in Australia, please CLICK HERE to find a composter near you. You can also ask your local council if they can provide a composting green bin for you. Another great option is to visit www.sharewaste.com to find a local home-composting enthusiast near you!
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE HERO PACKAGING ENDS UP IN LANDFILL?
They will still break down in landfill. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the landfill process, this will still add to methane production. That's why it's important to compost our products to take full advantage of the environmental benefits. Hero Packaging products take about 2 years rather than 90 days to break down in landfill. In contrast, traditional plastic shipping mailers take 400 years or more to break down, and still release deadly methane gas into the atmosphere.
CAN I REUSE MY HERO PACKAGING BAGS?
Yes! Hero Packaging has a second adhesive to allow you to use your bags twice, in case you need to return and items that you’ve ordered.
CAN I RECYCLE MY HERO PACKAGING BAGS?
No.

Hero Packaging mailers are home-compostable, so they need to go in a compost bin or industrial compost facility.

Putting these mailers in the recycling bins or soft plastic recycling collection will contaminate the rest on the bins, and can have the rest of your recycling thrown into landfills instead of recycled. Recycling bins are currently made for cardboard, hard plastics, and aluminium tins.

We appreciate your help in disposing adequately of the mailers. We’re always looking to make our shipping services better. If you have any recommendations, please let us know on our contact us page https://salomon.com.au/pages/contact-us
